The Costa Blanca or White Coast extends along the eastern coast of Spain (approximately in the middle) and covers the province of Alicante.
The Costa Blanca has a reputation for being a Mediterranean paradise and is a prime location boasting a superb climate with very mild winter temperatures and plenty of days sunshine per year. This climate draws hundreds of tourists every year and encourages participation in a wide range of sporting activities.
In the Southern Costa Blanca, Torrevieja is the main town where the vast majority of beaches have been awarded the EEC Blue flag Award for cleanliness and this makes it an ideal place to settle down for a relaxing retirement or for that superb holiday home. With excellent average temperatures the climate is rated by the World Health Organisation as one of the healthiest in the world.
For those of you interested in a broader variety of activities, the Costa Blanca, Costa Calida has a lot to offer with a wide range of health spas, leisure facilities, many excellent golf courses to a championship standard and crystal clear waters which allows you to enjoy every water sport imaginable.

The clear blue waters and stunning underwater scenery make it a diver’s paradise; watching the setting of the sun whilst having a dip in the cool blue waters is an experience not easily forgotten. Further south, the cliffs have a creamy white tint from which the Costa Blanca (White coast ) derives its name.
The coast boasts excellent transport links via motorways, railways, ferry ports and three international airports. The A7 motorway (with some toll sections) stretches from north to south along the coast. The N-332 also runs parallel yet is free from charges although much slower as it passes through the middle of many towns.
The Costa Blanca isn’t necessarily a place one would go to see historical monuments (although there are many). It’s attractions lie in it’s beauty – the amazing vivid blue Mediterranean waters, the lovely sandy beaches, the old towns and villages with their old narrow streets, the restaurants and bars where one can sit and relax outside because of the wonderful all-year round climate. It’s simply a wonderful place in which to enjoy life (as we should do but often don’t), feel rejuvenated and refreshed.
Since 1975 Spain has actively encouraged tourism, leading many Britons to choose a new life in this beautiful country.
